"Miserable Forever" Sticker
Photographed in personal photo studio
Etsy ListingThe "Miserable Forever" design draws inspiration from the Buddhist saying "Life is dukkha," which conveys the notion that pain, joy, and our state of being are perpetually in flux. These elements do not endure indefinitely on their own, yet the fundamental principles of life remain unchanged. Clinging to a concept that shifts as frequently as life itself is futile. This design also serves as a personal reflection of my own journey. After being diagnosed with depression, it felt that I became a guinea pig for various therapies and medications. While some approaches were beneficial and others detrimental, I have come to realize that my life will inevitably include difficult moments. Should I allow these moments to trouble me and replay in my mind endlessly, haunting my consciousness? Or should I accept that suffering is an inherent part of existence and embrace my vulnerability, knowing that others endure similar or even greater hardships that I have yet to face? Experiencing tragedy is a shared human condition; why should I conceal or feel ashamed of such a natural phenomenon? Misery fosters empathy, which is the essence of the emo community. This aligns perfectly with the punk aesthetic of The Ghouligans Shop, their intended audience.
To symbolize ongoing suffering, I have designed barbed wire in the form of the infinity symbol. The barbed wire represents strength and resilience, illustrating the ability to endure tough times and still move forward in life. Meanwhile, the infinity symbol echoes the Buddhist teachings of "dukkha," emphasizing that suffering is a constant reality, and recognizing this is essential to understanding the nature of life itself.
